It's not bribery, it's "positive reinforcement"!

Another thing I do is put my kids to work for me! Yesterday they did a mail out and cleaned at my brothers cafe. They earned enough to go to the toy sales this morning - their new toys are keeping them busy :)

You have some great strategies there Kylie.

Like you, I have a "plan of attack" to get through the school holidays. I find it best to "bargain" with my kids, who are 11, 9 & 5, so we arrange to do activities that are fun for them - movies, visiting friends etc - which is traded off against "Mum has to work" time. As long as we have had time together doing something fun, they are more than happy for me to spend a few hours working while they entertain themselves at home.

I think the key is to make yourself available so that the kids feel like you're giving them attention, then they are happy to have time off doing their own thing while you get some work done.

Of course it's always a juggle to fit everything in, but I love working from home and being able to enjoy time with my children during the holidays. It's great.
