Taking the time to slow down

by Kylie Short on April 13, 2008

These days our lives all seem to be about what we do or don’t buy, what we wear, what we do for a living and how we raise our kids.

Donna-Marie over at Small Business Diva talks about how we are all so busy working to be happy that we  don’t stop and enjoy being happy. Her quote sums it up neatly and made me think about if and when I actually stop what I’m doing to enjoy being happy. So today, that is exactly what I decided to do.

First thing code monkey and I did was to play our Ninendo Wii pretty much all morning with our three kids. Stopped to eat and now we are outside playing basket ball, riding bikes and enjoying what could be the last of our nice warm afternoons in the Autumn sun. (Shush, yes I’m on the computer too). The point is, we are enjoying being happy.

I know you work very hard so it’s great to hear that you’re enjoying a day of fun and being happy. I’ve been doing the same … and being on my computer doing things I enjoy makes me happy too :)

Sad, isn’t it when we take our computers with us to all sorts of places? ;-) I like to think of myself as a writer and in the ‘old’ days writers took notepads and pencils with them. With me, it’s have laptop, will travel.

Time out is very important though which is why I enjoy taking off some weekends with hubby when he’s racing – I get to sit and enjoy the beautiful countryside whilst he’s racing all over it on a bike!

I don’t have a laptop, however I do take a notebook & pen with me everywhere – you never know when inspiration will strike. Good to hear you’re taking some time out Kylie.
